Sustainability is strongly tied to the concept of wellness. All the creatures of this world, including human beings, live well if they are in harmony with the environment that surrounds them, in mutual respect. All this necessarily passes through the protection of any ecosystem but also of the healthcare, as reaffirmed in the Agenda 2030 (Sustainable Development Goal N°3), launched by the United Nations in 2015. To achieve the goals of social sustainability every valuable action and project counts. And innovation can make the difference. Monaco Liver Disorder MLD, Monegasque association under the Honorary Presidency of H.S.H. Princess Charlène of Monaco, has been committed, for a long time, to improve pediatric services, finance medical research, raise awareness of organ donation and support families who are involved.
The association always encourages concrete actions and a new goal has just been achieved within the award-winning project Calinescence carried out by its president and founder, Aurore Saintigny, and Carla Shechter-Fadoul, both sensitive mothers to the cause. The initiative aims at improving the living conditions of premature babies on the assumption that for every child nothing is better than to feel the warmth and love of both parents.
The synergy between the two ladies, together with the technological development applied to the medical world, gave birth to CaliNange® an advanced ‘made in France’ small-size equipment, acknowledged by all European and international certifications required in Neonatology and Pediatrics. The device is able to recreate a multi-sensory environment to make the baby feel the presence of his/her mother and father, and then make him/her feel safe, ‘embraced’ in a familiar sound and skin scent. On the 13th June 2022, the heart-shaped item was officially donated to the Centre Hospitalier Princesse-Grace (Princess Grace Hospital Centre).
“Introducing CaliNange ® to Dr. Haas’ team in order to maintain the parent-child link, seemed to me perfectly in line with what H.S.H. Princesse Grace has done and carried out; the role of the family is crucial for improving the development of any child", Carla Shechter-Fadoul, president and founder of MLD
“Introducing CaliNange® to Dr. Haas’ team in order to maintain the parent-child link, seemed to me perfectly in line with what H.S.H. Princesse Grace has done and carried out. The role of the family is crucial for improving the development of any child. Giving additional means of comfort and appeasement to caregivers while coping with painful care is one of our strongest wishes. It is not always possible to take your child close to you when in need. Thus, we considered it is meaningful to support a solution that allows both parents to be closer to the baby, despite being in an incubator machine, in a sterile bubble or in the operating room for pediatric services”, pointed out Carla Shechter-Fadoul. ***
