DWorld VR and Malta's Government side by side to develop a sustainable digital future.

Updated: Jun 22

Malta has been developing a structured strategy to give an effective contribution on global Digital Transition. By the strong will of Maltese Government, the Mediterranean EU Country is converting into an international hub for innovative technologies to develop High-Tech and Fintech industries. And sustainability is among the prior mission with the aim of monitoring and reducing human impacts on the natural environment, while promoting renewable energies and managing resources eco-responsibly.

In this framework, the Malta's Ministry for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects' High-Tech Hub Tech.mt and DWorld VR, leading Metaverse company based in the Principality of Monaco, started a partnership to develop key projects. This collaboration, established within the 2024 London Tech Week, marks an important step towards the creation of a "Made in Malta" Metaverse economic ecosystem, with a starting focus on the Country's capital, La Valletta. The main mission is to create a revolutionary national virtual economy to support the real Country.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) makes DWorld contribute directly to develop DiHubMT, the cutting edge digital innovation hub in Malta where to host innovative companies able to make the difference in the local dynamic digital landscape.

This initiative sets the objective to generate a positive impact both on tourism and on local economies with the involvement of younger generations. The Tech. mt Foundation, established in 2019 by the Government of Malta, and the Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry promote Malta as a technology centre for future development.

Silvio Schembri, the Minister of Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects, pointed out: « We are positioning Malta higher in the digital revolution sector by adopting progressive technologies and fostering innovation. This initiative not only attracts global talents and investments, but it also stimulates our local economy, creating new opportunities and generating economic growth. The project involving Tech.mt and DWorld VR shows my Country’s commitment to digital progress and economic diversification ».

Wayne Grixti, CEO at Tech. mt, highlighted: « This Memorandum of Understanding represents a major step forward in positioning Malta as a leader in the digital revolution. In partnership with DWorld VR, we foster the development of a thriving digital economy while laying the foundation for a pioneering virtual experience in La Valletta. This project will attract talent and investment, propelling Malta’s digital and technological landscape to new heights ».

Manila Di Giovanni, CEO at DWorld VR, stressed: « Partnering with Tech.mt to build the Malta Metaverse shows our shared vision and ambition to redefine the future of digital experiences. Together, we will combine our strengths and expertise to create a vibrant and inclusive Metaverse ecosystem in Malta ». ***
