MONACŒCOART®: Sarah Ourahmoune, you are also very committed to the promotion of the highest values of sport but also in the promotion of sports activities in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, what role can sport play in making society more sustainable? What needs to be done to improve that synergy?

S.O.: I have been fighting for a long time in the cause of gender equality and ensure safety in sports activities. I am used considering my discipline as a perfect driving force for pushing the improvement of society and conveying good values. My mission is also to build new skills addressed to a wide audience who approach boxing. Despite appearances this discipline can be very useful to overcome social frictions in problematic urban neighbourhoods. This sport allows you to gain confidence and sense of human collaboration at all ages and conditions. I am enriched in teaching those who are beginners. I do believe that Sport is a crucial tool to foster social inclusion and I am proud of acting to improve society.

MONACŒCOART®: What values has sport given you and what would you like to pass on to new generations?

S.O.: The idea of sharing ideas, knowledge and feelings is what forged me by practicing boxing as a professional. All that gave me the courage to dare and to act for the best. Boxing taught me to be in the ring to have a say. When I started my career, I was one of the very few women in boxing. That meant constantly proving my worth in order to attain greater equality and consequently more sustainability. ***
